I am Umberto Ottaviani, an Italian photographer with over ten years of experience. I studied photography at the DAM Academy in Rome, where I laid the foundation for my technical skills and creative vision.
Throughout my career, I have worked in various fields, including event photography, weddings, advertising, still life, real estate, and much more.
This journey has allowed me to refine my technique and explore the many nuances of the profession.
Over time, however, I realised that photography had to mean something more to me.
I didn’t want to merely capture images for others, following the requests of a client.
I was looking for a form of expression that went beyond a simple commission, one that would allow me to explore, tell stories, convey emotions, and create images capable of leaving a lasting impression.
My works range from street photography to landscapes, through still life and other genres. I don’t limit myself to a specific style, as I believe each shot should have the freedom to express what I feel in that moment.
This freedom is also reflected in the choice of tools I use: I don’t favour any particular camera, whether it’s digital, analogue, mirrorless, DSLR, compact, or even a smartphone.
For me, the camera is merely a tool to communicate my vision. I choose the equipment that best suits the emotions of the moment, fully aware that each medium has its own character and can influence the way a story is told.
I also pay particular attention to the printing process, which I consider an integral part of my photography.
My images are printed on high-quality papers to ensure the highest visual and sensory impact.
Through my photography, I seek to create connections that touch the heart and mind of the viewer, inviting them to pause, reflect, and perhaps see the world with new eyes.
